ROYAL TRAVELS NEWS. Thailand has launched its new national tourism campaign in India. The ‘2015 Discover Thainess‘ campaign was unveiled to Indian audiences at the Thailand Trade Investment Tourism Road Show, which was held in Mumbai and Delhi from 24-27 February 2015.Organised by the Thai Ministry of Commerce, the road show is aimed at promoting Thai trade, tourism and investment, with a focus on the cultural characteristics of Thailand and its people. The Thai delegation to India was led by Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul, the country’s Minister of Tourism & Sports. The governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Thawatchai Arunyik, said India is one of the most important inbound tourism markets for his country. During our last Thailand Travel Mart annual trade show held in June 2014, Indians were one of the largest contingents of buyers,” revealed Thawatchai. “We are determined to ensure that Indian travel agents and tour operators are familiar with our products and services. This is essential to ensuring a steady of flow of both first time and repeat visitors.” India is one of the largest tourism source markets for Thailand, contributing 946,269 arrivals in 2014. And while this total marked a slight decline compared to 2013, Thailand is expecting numbers to recover this year, with a target of 1.05 million Indian arrivals in 2015. There are currently 140 weekly flights between India and Thailand, including direct services with Thai Airways, Air India, Jet Airways, Bangkok Airways, IndiGo and SpiceJet. Indians are also offered via-on-arrival at Thailand’s airports. |
